Texas A&M and Texas Tech meet, learn and socialize |

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS —Thumbs and Guns helps two ACT chapters unite. The Texas A&M ACT chapter hosted the Texas Tech ACT chapter during the A&M vs. Tech football game weekend of November 12-14, 2004. The festivities began Friday night with the Thumbs and Guns Tailgate party on A&M's West Campus in College Station . At the tailgate, the ACT members were treated to a BBQ dinner, live music and fellowship. Later, the members attended Midnight Yell, an A&M tradition in which the student body gathers at Kyle Field at midnight to practice yells for the upcoming football game. [read more] |

| Scholarship and internship deadlines approaching |

Several of the internships listed on the National ACT Web site have deadlines within this month. See the internship directory for details on applying for that valuable internship experience. American Agricultural Editors Association scholarship application for ACT members is available to download on the Web site. AAEA will give two $750 scholarships to two outstanding members of ACT. The deadline is April 1. The awards will be presented at the National conference in San Antonio. |

Hard-working, dedicated chapters are rewarded each year by ACT. Chapters may apply for the Chapter of the Year awards by downloading the application on the resources page. The judging is based on the quality and appropriateness of several activities, including educational, community service and fundraising. Awards are given to the outstanding chapter in each of the six categories. Chapters that enter in four or more categories qualify for the Outstanding Chapter of the Year award.
